WESTERLY REVERIES
My New Show presented by Webb's Fair and Square in Fort Davis, TX.
WESTERLY REVERIES I have dreamt of the desert for many years. In 2024 we made it a reality and moved from Texas to a small mountainous town in southeastern Arizona. These are the things I see when I close my eyes. The shapes forms and colors.
This show uses mediums of natural dyes, earth pigments, vintage textiles, sewing and acrylic paints.
There are some pieces still available here. Contact Webb's Fair and Square Here or follow the link on the piece you are interested in.

PINK MOUNTAIN WITH GOLD 18X 12 This piece came from walks back into the canyon with my husband. We run across a lot of pink quartz and it is said where there is pink quartz there is gold. The mountain is Avocado with a madder root dip. The sky is an osage ombre. The sun ombre and the back tower is a cutch iron dipped ombre.

IN THE RANGE 16X 9 These are the grasses of the Texas Hiway from Fort Davis to Bisbee, from the passenger side. I wanted to capture the movement of the grasses as the wind molded them to the wind.
The mountain is dyed cutch, the sky is earth pigments and the grasses are different dyes from past projects including avocado, madder root, cutch, marigold, osage and waddle.

DISTANT STORM 16 X 11 Storms are mostly welcome in the desert. I live in a gulch and enough rain can come through to move a car. You can see them coming in the distance over the horizon. The sky is dyed with pomegranate and iron. The clouds are raw canvas with black hand sewn embroidery, The sun is shades of osage as well as mountain right. Mountain left is cutch with a dip in iron.
BRIGHT DAY 22 X 9 Gold thread shoots through the sky like light reflecting streaming clouds. The bright sun, hand stitched, is made from a madder root ombre and a solid osage circle. The mountain is cutch with iron.
This is a landscape I thought I made up but saw it off I-10 on leaving Texas on the way back to Arizona. It was with other mountains but this shape I thought was so graphic, it obviously made an impression on one of our 20+ trips to and from.

WASH 16 X 11 This imaginary wash came from a real mountain scape going from AZ to TX. The sky and the wash are indigo. The sun is osage. Mountain right is madder root. With our hard water here it makes the madder very vibrant. And Mountain left is an ombre between madder root and osage. The clouds are hand stitched and raw canvas.

FIRE MESA 22 X 9 Fiery morning sunrise with madder root and cochineal ombre on the left and a mountain made from osage and madder root ombre on the right. The sky is an
ombre with raw canvas and osage.

DESERT NOCTURNE 16 X 12 Living in a mountain gulch you sometimes don't get to see the full sky due to being nestled in the mountain. The sky is indigo on indigo with hand stitched tiny stars. The mountains are made up of different shades of logwood.

CURVY SCAPE 16 X 9 A modernized version of hills and mountains with a embroidered gold sun.

LOST ROAD 16 X 9 I can still remember, certain roads that looked so inviting, but I never made it down them.
The sky is embroidered, The mountains are cutch and cutch with iron. The land is in mulberry leaf, The road is oak gall and pomegranate, the surrounding sand is marigold.

DAVIS MOUNTAIN MYSTERIES 10 X 19 These are the Hoo Doos of Fort Davis. Well, some of them. The mountains themselves have an under dye of Cutch and then painted on earth pigments with a binder of soy milk. The green is mulberry leaf and the forward mountain is cutch and cutch with iron. Embroidery around the hoo doos.
